F6 Information Systems and Technologies

Information Systems and Technologies is a fundamental applied and systems-engineering field that encompasses the design, development, implementation, integration, and optimization of complex distributed information systems of any scale.

Unlike purely programming or analytical fields, this major occupies a central place connecting business needs, modern cloud/network infrastructures, software architecture, and methods for ensuring system reliability and fault tolerance. An IST specialist acts as a systems architect, complex solution integration engineer, DevOps/Cloud specialist, and enterprise system developer.

The training of specialists in this major is structured around studying the following key objects:

- theoretical, methodological, and instrumental tools of IST: modern programming languages, frameworks, data integration platforms, modeling notations (UML, BPMN), relational and NoSQL databases, and cloud services (AWS, Azure, GCP);

- system quality, reliability, and survivability: classical and modern reliability evaluation criteria, fault-tolerant architectures, disaster recovery systems, performance monitoring (SRE), and load testing;

- decision-making models and tools: classical and multi-criteria optimization, decision theory, AI/ML algorithms integrated into information systems to automate business and production processes;

- infrastructure objects and networks: corporate and cloud networks, Internet of Things (IoT), microservice architecture, containerization environments (Docker, Kubernetes), and system software.

Learning objectives by higher education level:

First (Bachelor's) level — developing general and professional competencies in information systems and technologies that foster social resilience and job market mobility; designing and implementing information systems across various industries.

Main focuses of Bachelor's degree training:

- mastering fundamental concepts of algorithmization, object-oriented programming, computing systems architecture, and computer networks;

- designing and developing web, mobile, and enterprise applications (Full-stack development);

- database administration, network equipment configuration, core DevOps skills (CI/CD), and software deployment automation;

- modeling business processes and system requirements, participating in all lifecycle phases of IST development and maintenance.

Second (Master's) level — acquiring higher education to design, implement, and research highly complex, distributed, and fault-tolerant information systems and technologies under conditions of uncertain requirements and digital transformation.

Main focuses of Master's degree training:

- designing architectures for complex distributed, cloud, and microservice systems (Solutions Architecture, Cloud Architecture);

- researching and developing optimization methods, ensuring high survivability, scalability, and security of information systems (Site Reliability Engineering);

- integrating artificial intelligence, machine learning, Big Data analytics, and IoT into production-ready information environments;

- managing IT projects, strategic IT consulting, conducting applied scientific research and R&D projects.

Key graduate competencies:

- IST Architecture & Design — developing conceptual and technical system architectures, process modeling (BPMN, UML), applying microservices and Event-Driven approaches;

- Integration & Cloud Technologies — deploying and configuring cloud infrastructures (AWS/Azure), creating APIs and Enterprise Service Buses (ESB);

- Reliability & Fault Tolerance (SRE) — system resource monitoring, building High Availability and disaster-tolerant systems, load testing;

- Software Development & Databases — programming (Java, C#, Python, Go, JavaScript), designing high-load databases (PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Redis);

- DevOps & Automation — setting up CI/CD pipelines, configuration management (Ansible, Terraform), containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).

Graduates of major F6 Information Systems and Technologies are versatile and highly sought-after specialists in national and international IT markets due to their balanced proficiency in programming, systems engineering, and business process understanding:

- system development and architecture: Solutions Architect, Systems Engineer, Software Engineer (Full-Stack / Back-End), Enterprise Information System Developer;

- cloud technologies and DevOps: Cloud Engineer, DevOps Engineer, Site Reliability Engineer (SRE), Infrastructure Engineer;

- systems analytics and implementation: Systems Analyst, ERP/CRM Implementation IT Consultant, Integration Specialist;

- data management and databases: Database Administrator (DBA), Database Architect, Data Engineer;

- IT project management: IT Project Manager, Product Manager, Scrum Master, Delivery Manager;
